Lyme Regis to Charmouth Challenge Sea SwimSpectators

There are plenty of places to watch the swimmers along the route – although you may need binoculars – along Marine Parade, behind the Guildhall near the Marine Theatre and on the new East Cliff sea defence to Black Venn in Lyme Regis. Whether you can see them clearly of not – it is a lovely walk!

Start

The event will start in Lyme Regis at the sandy beach, to the left of the Cobb as you face the sea & opposite the Harbour Inn waved off by the Mayor of Lyme Regis and all our supporters, friends and family.

The swimmers leave the beach in Lyme Regis to swim to Charmouth. If you wish to wait for their return, they will be whisked back after their swim and returned to the Cobb jetty back in Lyme Regis.

On the beach please allow plenty of room for the swimmers and be directed by the Lyme Splash Crew for every ones safety.

What to do in Lyme Regis

For those who wish to wait until the swimmers return Lyme Regis has some unique shops, places to visit & to eat many of them who have donated some fantastic raffle prizes . You can buy a raffle ticket from one of our Lyme Splash Crew on the day or online. If the weather is fine just hire a deck chair & chill on the beach and wait for the swimmers to return.

Finish

The Swim finishes in Charmouth, should you wish to be at the finish you can reach Charmouth by car and cheer on the swimmers from West Beach.

PLEASE do not greet swimmers as they come out of the water as they must be scanned on finishing so we know they are safely out of the water.

Each swimmer will be awarded a medal for finishing so plenty of photo opportunities at our finish arch!

To return to Lyme Regis via Lyme Rib Rides Swimmers need to re enter the water so can not be clothed or be handed their car keys!

If you are supporting Skin Swimmers and they need their clothes to keep warm after the swim please check their estimated swim time before they leave so you are ready to meet them when they come out.

Hot drinks and biscuits have kindly been donated for the swimmers & volunteers only.

What to do in Charmouth

There are a couple of cafes serving food & cakes, a fossil shop & up along the road on the high street, some shops. The Heritage Coast Centre is next to the finish & worth a visit – great for kids http://www.charmouth.org/chcc/

The tide will be in so it will NOT be possible to walk round to Charmouth via the coast. It is NOT possible to walk along the top of the East Cliffs due to rock falls.

Presentation Celebration

At the LYME REGIS CHECKIN Tent we will draw the glorious raffle after the last swimmer has finished.
